Membership

The 28th Infantry Association is an organization of veterans who have served in the 28th Infantry Regiment, the 1st, 2nd or 3rd Battle Groups, 28th Infantry Regiment, or the 1st, 2nd or 3rd Battalions, 28th Infantry Regiment.

Qualifying periods of service include World War I, World War II, the Vietnam War, the Cold War and peacetime.

28th Infantry Regiment veterans are eligible to join, as well as their blood relatives.

Annual dues are $10.00 per year. The dues year runs from January to December.

The Association also has Associate Members who are those, not otherwise eligible to join, who desire to show support for the Association and its goals and objectives. Associate Members receive a certificate suitable for framing. Their dues are $25.00 per year.

Upon receiving an inquiry from a prospective member, the Association will mail a complete packet of information to the individual.

Some of the activities of the 28th Infantry Association include:


• An Association Newsletter "Lion's Pride" is published twice a year - Summer and Winter.. A Membership List containing name, address, phone number and unit of all members who have given their permission is produced annually and mailed to those who pay their annual dues. A Guide to the Wall is being prepared. It will list all 28th Infantrymen killed in the VN War and indicate the Wall panel containing their name. Members receive membership cards.

  

• A Data Base containing information on living and dead 28th Infantrymen of all wars supports the membership and the Association publishing and mailing efforts as well.

  

• Unit histories from WWI, WWII, and VN have been copied and can be provided to members. An list of information Sources has been compiled and is periodically published in the "Lion's Pride" to assist members with historical and personnel records searches.

  

• A Regimental Reunion is held periodically at the present Regimental seat at Ft. Jackson, SC. WWII Veterans and some lettered WWII Companies (HHC, G, Med Plat) hold reunions every year. VN Reunions (Lions 93, 94, etc.) are held as often as every year. The Association also actively supports reunions held by the Society of the First Division. All known activities are published in an Annual Activities calendar.

  

• Regimental Items such as crests, baseball caps, pocket badges, tie tacks, decals, bumper stickers, tee-shirts, 1st and 8th Inf Div patches, etc., are available for member purchase.

  

• A Black Lion Wreath is provided for Memorial Activities.
