Newly Formed DELTA Company 2/28 Infantry Regiment, July 1967


93 state-side soldiers known as "C Packet" trained as a group at Ft. Lewis and Ft. Polk, LA and then the whole group spent three weeks traveling on the General John Pope (Photo #2) before arriving in Vietnam on July 1967.

They were joined by veteran infantrymen handpicked from HHC, Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie companies of the 2/28th to help train the new recruits.
That group of Veteran infantrymen included a Green Beret Company Commander, a First Sgt Army lifer, Platoon Leaders, Platoon Sgts, Squad Leaders, Team Leaders, RTOs, Medics, Mortar Men, and an experienced Pointman.
